DECIDE WHAT TYPE OF PLAYER YOU ARE

-Scorer, shooter, playmaker, defender, rebounder, etc…

-Take pride in what you do well and stay away from the things you don’t do well.

-Work hard not to let anyone be better than you at what you do!

BE PERFECT AT THE THINGS WITHIN YOUR CONTROL

-Show up on time to games, workouts, clinics, etc…

-Know the plays and what your coaches expectations are for you.

-Work hard! Every drill, every game, EVERYTHING! Try to be the hardest working player in your program.

-Have a great attitude. Coaches like to coach players that like to be coached. Basketball is supposed to be fun, have fun playing the game and bring a great attitude towards getting better everyday.

WORK ON YOUR WEAKNESSES (BY YOURSELF)

-Clinics, camps, private lessons, etc… Are great but great players spend time alone really focusing on smaller details that get overlooked in other environments.

-If you struggle with your off hand , perimeter shot, lateral quickness, finishing with contact, etc… Work on it. You can only hide weaknesses for so long. Good players and coaches will see them and exploit them.

BONUS TIP – STUDY THE GAME

-The best players are in tune with the game because they study it.

-Watch as much high school, college and NBA basketball as possible.

-Learn common plays, moves, teams tendencies, etc…
